Laser hair removal involves the use of laser energy to destroy hair follicles and produce permanent hair reduction. The laser energy is absorbed by the melanin pigment, which is generally most abundant in the hair follicle, resulting in rapid heating of the hair follicle. This heat destroys the papillae (hair follicles) that are responsible for hair growth.

Unfortunately no laser hair treatment can guarantee full permanent hair reduction. This is because there is still the chance that some hair may grow back due to the hair being in different stages of growth. There may be the odd hair that grows back, but you will notice that there will be far fewer hairs as time passes, and you will be able to remove these hairs accordingly.

Because of the selective absorption of laser light, dark hair is easier and more effectively treated. Coarse dark hair (particularly on lighter skin) responds the best to treatment, whilst blonde and red hair can be very difficult to treat with the laser system. This is a result of the fact that darker hair contains eumelanin pigment, which absorbs laser energy at a far higher rate than pheomelanin, whilst is present in blonde and red hair.

Individuals with lighter skin tend to see faster results with those with darker skin. This does not mean the Laserpro will not work on darker-skinned individuals, but it may require a little more time and effort.

The Laserpro will work differently for different individuals, particularly on the basis of the hair/skin colour combination as mentioned above. It is essential that the individual has hair that is darker than their skin colour. If you have light hair and darker/tanned skin, the Laserpro may not be for you.

The Laserpro uses the same technology as laser hair treatment received in salons and thus can achieve the same results at a fraction of the cost. Obviously, the treatment may take a little longer, but the Laserpro is yours to own and you can use it when you want without having to pay for any further sessions.

Most areas, except adjacent to the eye, where there is excess hair and areas that are very sensitive. Common areas include the face, upper lip, neck, chest, periareolar, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line, and legs.

The Laserpro destroys the entire part of the follicle responsible for the growth of new hair; however they may be the odd hair that grows back, which may have been dormant during the previous laser hair removal session. This is normal, however, having your own Laserpro means you can destroy any of these hairs without having to pay any more.

There may be a slight sensation for some – sometimes likened to a rubber band snapping on the skin – but this is quite tolerable for most. If this proves uncomfortable, you can always lower the intensity (Low, Medium, High) to make it more tolerable.

How many treatments are needed?
The average number of sessions to achieve near-permanent hair reduction in 80-90 percent of laser hair removal candidates is approximately 2 to 3 monthly sessions over a 2-3 month period. The time needed for each session depends on the area treated, however it takes approximately one to two hours to treat one leg.

Return to top What are the post-treatment instructions? • Minimal use of makeup and maximum use of moisturizer
• Use sun block of SPF 25 or more for a couple of weeks after the treatment. This is important to reduce pigmentation problems after the treatment (either gain or loss of pigmentation of the treated area).
• Although rare, any blisters or scabs resulting from laser hair removal should not be scratched or picked at.
• If the skin appears mildly red and/or swollen after treatment, aloe vera gel can also be used for this or any other skin irritation from laser treatment
• Hair can still shed up to three weeks after the treatment. Help the hairs out by using a luffa or washcloth.

No. The Laserpro uses up to date laser technology and will achieve results as effective, if not more effective than many of the hair removal products out there. We just believe that you shouldn’t be charged over-the-top costs, and that this type of technology should be accessible to everyone.
Return to top Will I need to purchase any parts in the future? Never! The laser unit is designed to work for the life of the product. You will get at least 3 years use out of the laser using it regularly. However you would never need to use it for this long, or regularly! There are no cartridges or extra parts, accessories or consumables that are required. We recommend applying a cooling gel such as Aloe Vera before using the laser which can be purchased from any supermarket or Chemist.
